Dream house - Poppy's room

Now I'm on a roll with children's bedroom inspiration - so I thought I might flick through my folders and try to settle on some ideas for Poppy's bedroom. The first room I did for her was in our last house in the country and was a pretty pink nursery - perfect for a newborn. I've never been a fan of pink, as I'm a lover of cool colours and everything blue, but I did love this and enjoyed the departure.

Beautiful prints from the Bella and Boo range at Larkmade.
Pink toile fabric on blinds from Fabric Convention.
My one treasured Serena and Lily cot sheet - melon dot.
Walls painted in Dulux White Duck.
Chest and Mirror from La Maison. Lamp from Laura Ashley.
Curtains were a simple white duck I had trimmed in pink gingham.
I had a cot valance made from the same fabric.

But now she's getting older, almost two, and will need to grow into this next room. I thought it gave me latitude to do something a little bolder and more grown up. Also now that we are living in Sydney near the beach, and not in a freezing highland climate, it gives me some scope to be a bit colourful and creative. Poppy has lovely olive skin, with dark brown eyes and hair, and she can wear strong colours really well. I'm hoping that will translate to her bedroom colour scheme too because the dominant colours I'm favouring at the moment are turquoise and coral.

You get the idea. Now to narrow it down....hmmm....extended period of thinking music required.

  2. Thanks Lori - glad you like them. Seems the only person I have to convince is my husband who declared he doesn't like coral! Uggh! Love your blog and products and always looking for gorgeous artwork for kids. Just wonderful stuff you have - so glad I've discovered you. And Caitlin is one of my major inspirations - such a clever girl.
